Beginning in the 1940’s, The Kohler Foundation has been supporting the arts and education While widely known for its preservation work, the Kohler Foundation also hosts one of the longest running performing arts series in the state; making small grants primarily in Sheboygan County; managing a historic home (Waelderhaus http://www.kohlerfoundation.org/waelderhaus/; and offer a significant scholarship program for graduating seniors at the twelve local Sheboygan County high schools. As  Executive Director, you would be accountable for the overall management of Kohler Foundation, including staffing, budgets, and operational management of the various functional and project areas. The Executive Director also administrates two trusts with named beneficiaries.

Preservation of art environments and art collections is a major part of the Foundation’s work. Gifts of art have been made to more than 300 museums and non-profit entities in the past decade. The Executive Director is closely involved in all preservation activities including the search, acquisition, documentation, conservation, and gifting of these collections and sites. Working with estates, artist’s families, and living artists, and on the gifting side, you would collaborate with major museums, small non-profits and everything in between. Meeting defined financial targets while maintaining high ethical and professional standards for all conservation work is an ongoing priority

We seek a candidate who has experience managing a non-profit foundation and preferably, but not exclusively, someone who understands the importance of art preservation. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience, the ability to create and execute strategy and strong influencing skills. Ideally, these attributes have been honed in non-profit organizations. The position requires exceptional project management capability, organizational skills, a practiced understanding of accounting and financial management, and an  affinity for the arts. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, master’s preferred. This full-time position is salaried and includes a benefits package.
