Bernard Langlais Project Update - July
Lots of progress is being made on the preservation of the work of Bernard Langlais in Cushing, Maine. Our hardworking conservation staff is uncovering sculptures hidden under the brush for years, and meticulously cleaning the artwork. Approximately 30 recipient organizations have been identified to date, both in and outside of Maine.
Summer At Wegner Grotto
The Monroe County Local History Room board of trustees, which oversees the care and maintenance of the beautiful Wegner Grotto in Cataract, WI, has been hard at work on summer maintenance and upkeep at the site, known locally as the Glass Church. Kohler Foundation restored this site and gifted it to Monroe County in 1987. Read more on our Wegner Grotto page.
Bernard Langlais Project Updates
While KFI staff is in Cushing, Maine working with the art and sculptures of Bernard Langlais, they have sent back a few photos of this remarkable artist's work, as well as behind-the-scenes peeks at the preservation and conservation process. One of the most unique is a wood sculpture inspired by the painting Christina's World, by Andrew Wyeth, who lived and painted in the same region of Maine.
