Georg Vihos

(1937-2013)

Georg Vihos, a Michigan native who later in life settled in Wisconsin, developed an extensive collection of 10 foot and larger color field drawings. Following his naval service, he attended School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He taught and shared his passion with students. Many of his works are inspired by birds, feathers, butterflies, moths, and anything that flies. His works have been shown at The Detroit Institute of Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, and museums nationwide.

A friend to the Sheboygan art community, Lisa Vihos met with Kohler Foundation to place her father's work. Michigan State University selected three drawings, including one spanning twelve feet. Marian University selected four delicately detailed prints of feathers.
