Craig Bruns was a student and friend of Willem Volkersz, a teacher and collector now living in Montana. William influenced Craig’s folk art collection. In 2018, Craig approached Kohler Foundation about taking on his collection. Karen Patterson, then Senior Curator of John Michael Kohler (JMKAC) worked through the list and carefully selected a group of 41 items that are closely related to the Volkersz collection and enhances what JMKAC already has in the permanent collection.  Included are archival items from Jesse Howard, drawings by Mark Negus, drawings and paintings by Alva Gene Dexhimer, paintings and archival materials from Robert E. Smith, and artwork by Mary T. Smith.
