A collection of 147 authentic Mexican and Guatemalan masks, Puerto Rican Santos, African Colonial figures, African masks, and other small, related objects were acquired by Kohler Foundation in 2012. The collection was carefully and diligently acquired over a thirty-year span by New York collector Spencer Throckmorton. 

The collection was cleaned, and minor repairs were made by Kohler Foundation preservation technicians under the supervision of a professional conservator.

The body of work has been gifted to the permanent collections of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and the Waterloo Center for the Arts (Waterloo, IA).
