Alfred Juergens
(1866-1934)
Alfred Juergens was an accomplished artist and his work has been shown or is in the permanent collections of the Illinois State Museum, Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Oak Park Art League, and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others. The collection includes primarily landscapes and a few portraits and came to us from a descendant of Juergen’s close friend and benefactor. It was the family’s wishes that their paintings would be placed where they can be seen.
Kohler Foundation worked with PARMA Conservation to repair any damage, and to give the works a proper cleaning. Between 2017-2018, twenty Juergens’ paintings were gifted to the Aurora Health Care Foundation, Wisconsin Historical Society, Lakeland University, and Grand Rapids Art Museum.
