David Harper
(b. 1984, Toronto, Ontario, now living in Philadelphia, PA)
David R. Harper completed his BFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Sculpture before pursuing an MFA in Fiber and Material Studies at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada and the United States. He has exhibited work in group exhibitions at the National Gallery of Canada and MASS MoCA, among others. Harper has been artist in residence at the Art Gallery of Nova Society (Halifax, 2009), Bemis Center of Contemporary Art (Omaha, 2014) and the Kohler Arts/Industry program at the Kohler pottery factory in Wisconsin (Kohler, 2012,2014). Harper’s work can be found in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the Frederick R. Weisman Foundation in LA. Between 2017-2019, the Kohler Foundation placed many of David’s work in other institutions such as John Michael Kohler Art Center, Museum of Arts and Design (NYC), Crocker Art Museum, and University of California-Long Beach.
