Leon Berkowitz
‘The Four Sequences, ” a series of four triptychs, were commissioned by BMO Financial in Chicago in 1975. The large triptychs, each measuring 177” wide by 91” high, were hung in the 37th floor guest dining room at the bank and were enjoyed for many years. The Washington D.C. artist did a special study of Chicago’s light when commissioned by the bank to execute these paintings. By 2012, the works were in dire need of conservation treatment, so the bank donated the pieces to Kohler Foundation. Extensive conservation was done by Parma Conservation of Chicago to bring the oil on canvas works back to life.
The Berkowitz triptychs have been gifted to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where they will be permanently displayed in their new 38,000 square foot Alumni Welcome and Conference Center.
